      Roy Hamilton's full name was Joseph R B Hamilton.1 He was born on 1 March 1892 in Langdon, Cavalier County, North Dakota.1 He was the son of John Kenneth Hamilton and Elizabeth F Burns.2,3 He married Ruth Dean.1 He lived in Thief River Falls, Pennington County, Minnesota, in 1942.2 He died on 3 July 1943 probably in Oakland, California, at age 51.4

Roy's obituary in the The Forum, Fargo, North Dakota, on 7 July 1943 read:
"Rites Held for Former Fargoan
Military services for Roy J Hamilton, former Fargoan and World War 1 veteran, who died Saturday, will be today in Oakland, Calif. He leaves Mrs Hamilton and a daughter, Marion of Fargo; his mother, Mrs J. K. Hamilton of Minneapolis, Minn., four brothers Dr. J. W. Hamilton of Minot, N. D., Arthur Hamilton of Thief River Falls, Minn., Thomas Hamilton of Los Angeles, Calif., Charles Hamilton of San Diego, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. R. R. Wild, St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Austin Wild, Minneapolis, and Miss Helen Hamilton of Cleveland, Ohio."4
