James Regan

     James Regan was born on 22 June 1866 in South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.¹ He was the son of John Regan and Mary Hamilton.¹ He was baptized on 22 July 1866 in St Edward the Confessor Church, Westport, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario^G.¹ He died on 9 February 1867 in South Crosby Twp, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.² He was buried in Philipsville Catholic Cemetery, Philipsville, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario^G.

Research Note: James' baptism record gives both his date of birth and his date of baptism. It’s in the correct order in the register, so I’m sure he was born on 22 Jun 1866.
His death occurred prior to death registrations in Ontario, so we have only the headstone record for his death date; 9 Feb 1868 aged 7 months. This memorial is on his parents’ stone so it would have been carved long after his death. I am more inclined to believe the age (7 months) as family members would remember that more accurately than the year.
If he was born on 22 Jun 1866 and died on 9 Feb 1867, he would have been 7 months old.
