      Sarah Elizabeth Rankin was known as Libby.1 She was born on 27 August 1869.2 She was the daughter of Henry Rankin and Harriet Jane Muchmore.3,4 She married Charles Albert Burtch on 12 April 1887 in Lyndhurst, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario.3 She died on 25 March 1908 of appendicitis in Jones Falls, Leeds & Grenville County, Ontario, at age 38.5,4

Sarah's obituary in the The Gananoque Reporter, Gananoque, Ontario, on 4 April 1908 read:
"The death occured on Wednesday at Jones' Falls of Mrs. Charles Birch(sic), well and popularly known throughout that section. She had been ill for several days with pneumonia. The deceased's maiden name was Miss Rankin. She was only 35 years of age and leaves a family of seven children. Her husband also survives."4

She was buried in St Columbanus Cemetery, Elgin, Leeds & Grenville County, OntarioG.4,1
