Ann Ferrier
ID # 9896, (1839-)
Birth | Ann Ferrier was born on 19 January 1839 at Scotland. |
Marriage | She married Abraham Felker on 27 September 1855 at Wellington County. See Wellington District Marriage Register, Vol. 9, Pt 2, 1852-1857, page 28, compiled by Dan Walker & Fawne Stratford-Devai, Global Heritage Press, Milton (now of Ottawa). The following appears in a list of marriages performed by Rev. G. Smellie, Melville Church, of Fergus. Abraham Felker, Yeoman, to Anne Ferrier, both of Garafraxa. 27 Sept, 1855. By Licence. Rev. Smellie. Wit. James Ferrier Sen'r and John Smellie. Rev. Smellie's Melville Church in Fergus was Presbyterian. By 1855, an old Wellington District register was still being used, but this was now Wellington County. These registrations do not necessarily tell us where a marriage was performed, many being held at the home of the bride's family home. At a guess, however, the marriage was probably held at the manse at Fergus, if for no other reason than one of the witnesses, John Smellie, was evidently one of the clergyman's family members. Also, the witness James Ferrier Sen'r was almost certainly the bride's father. Anne Ferrier, so shown in the 1851 census, was with two James Ferriers in the household - her father and her brother. |
