Maud McTaggart died March 17, 1917. Born January 11, 1901. Age 16. Place of birth Barrie Island. Place of death Gore Bay, Ontario. Occupation student. Single. Father William McTaggart, born Prince Edward Island(?) and mother Alice Fanny Lane, born Stayner, Ontario. Physician James A. Baker of Gore Bay. Cause of death pulmonary tuberculosis. Informant William McTaggart of Gore Bay.

The handwriting on the above is difficult to read to put it mildly. It is likely for this reason that the death registration is poorly indexed on Ancestry.

Maud's father was not born on Prince Edward Island, but in Prince Edward County of Ontario.

Maud was born on January 11, 1901. The 1901 census enumeration was not begun until March 31st of that year. This census shows Maud's name as Alice. The 1911 census shows her with the name Maud, again with her date of birth shown as January 11, 1901. Since we must believe Alice and Maud to be one and the same child, her name here is shown as Alice Maud McTaggart. Whether this is entirely correct won't likely be confirmed.

A place of burial for Maud has not been found. She is probably buried in Gordon Township Cemetery, perhaps with her grandparents, but, again, this remains unconfirmed.
