Brant County Marriage Register, 1858-1868

Joseph Lee, 22, born and residing Beverly (Township). Parents John and Mary Ann.
Rosanna Peregrine, 20, born and residing Beverly. Parents David and Rosanna Peregrinbe.
Witnesses Joseph Lloyd and Aaron Main, both of Beverly.
On December 24th, 1867

Under this is recorded:
I do hereby certify that the foregoring is a true and correct statement of all the marriages solemnized by myself and predecessors as recorded in the book of registry for the year ending on the 31st of December, 1867.

He then states that therere were five marriages performed (which he lists), the first being by Rev. Thos. S. Keough, now of Innerkip; the following two by his assistant, the Rev. John F. German, now of Paris; and the last two, including the Lee-Peregrine marriage, by himself, the Rev. James Harris of St. George.

While the county marriage registers do not typically state the exact location of the marriage, since the Lee-Peregrine marriage was returned to the Brant County registrar, and since there was indeed a Wesleyan Methodist Church in St. George, we may reasonably believe that the marriage was performed in St. George. The only caveat here is that it was not unheard of the the clergy to return a registration to the wrong venue.
