Parents John and Jane Knapp. Per endorsement by registrar, the names of the witnesses were not provided. On Feby. 20th, 1884, at Montague, by John Walton. The marriage was registered with the clerk in Merrickville of Grenville County. The minister, John Walton, states however that the marriage was held in Montague Township. This is in Lanark County, north of Merrickville and the Rideau River. Technically, the marriage should have been registered with the registrar of Montague Township. A portion of Merrickville, on some old maps referred to as North Merrickville, extends north into Montague.Still, Rev. Walton places the marriage in Montague. |
