Note | Death reg. 022735-06 McKillar Twp., Parry Sound District Richard Olmstead died 25th Sept., 1906, age sixty nine. Lumberman. Methodist. Born Lanark County, Ont. Physician's name illegible. Informant John R. Stone. Richard's given name, as written on the form, was overwritten to make a correction. This made for mistaken indexing. A correction for this was entered and thanks to whoever fixed it. Richard's death registration places his birth in Lanark County. The county system of administration was a decade away from formation in 1839. Lanark County was formed out of portions of the old Bathurst District. District marriage records for Bathurst do include Olmsteads and so that the family was at one time located in what became Lanark County is reasonable. We have yet, however, to find another record confirming Richard's place of birth as Lanark County. A marriage registration for Richard's parents has, however, yet to be found. The Bruce & Grey branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a transcription of Walter's Falls United Church Cemetery wherein Richard and Eliza are buried. At the time of their deaths - 1905 and 1906 - the United Church had yet to come into being. The cemetery was a Methodist cemetery. |
