NoteIt is possible to say that Jared Swan was in Dumfries Township (later North Dumfries Township) as of 16 June, 1835. See Onland.ca, Waterloo County, North Dumfries, book 2a, image 174, Concession 10, lot 2,east of the Grand River, Bargain & Sale of 45 acres by Hon. William Dickson to Jared Swan. (This will not be a complete story). The documents viewed are Abstract Indexes and these pages were not actually written until beginning in 1867. The original full document likely appeared in the records of the old Gore District. When the 1867 work was done the old Gore District was long gone and the county system was in effect. North Dumfries was in Waterloo County.

Jared Swan died 18th March, 1877, age 80 yrs., 9 mos. Born Scotland. Farmer. Presbyterian. Physician Dr. Samuel Richardson, Galt. Informant James Dryden, son-in-law, North Dumfries.

Jared and Jane are buried in Section 2 of what is presently Mountview Cemetery in Cambridge/Galt. This cemetery was established in 1868 as the Galt Cemetery and was not renamed Mountview until 1886.
