Note | Something of the lives of Dominic Henry and his wife, Mary Madden, is to be found in the 11th Volume of the Niagara Historical Society. Some of this is again echoed in Janet Carnochan's 1914 History of Niagara. The NHS volume quotes Elizabeth Henry Quade's memories. This has Dominic, at the least, and perhaps as well his wife Mary, dying in 1829. The available version has a typographical problem so it may not be entirely accurate that 1829 was the year of passing for Mary Madden Henry. Still, it probably isn't that far off. The Niagara branch of the Ontario Genealogical society have published in 1997 St. Mark's Anglican Church Burial Records. There are gaps in the records for the year that cover the supposed burials for Dominic and Mary. Still, this is where daughter Elizabeth Henry Quade has it that they are buried. No gravestones for the Henrys have been found. Given the early date for their passing, this is hardly unusual. Mrs. Quade's memories have her father's place of birth as County Derry, and that of her mother, Mary Madden, in County Antrim - both located in Ireland. |
