Helen Oakley died May 21, 1900, age 91. Housewife. Residence Bronte, Trafalgar. Born Niagara. B(aptist). Physicians Drs. Buck & McCrimmon. Informant C. L. Young.

The informant, C. L. Young, was the undertaker. The 1901 census shows his residence to be Oakville.

Helen is buried in Merton Mount Pleasant Methodist Episcopal Cemetery. A transcription of this cemetery has been done by the Halton-Peel Counties branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Helen's gravestone information appears on page 7-4. The cemetery is described as being on Concession 2 SDS Lot 28, Trafalgar Township. (SDS=South of Dundas Street).

Bronte is no longer a separate community, but part of the City of Oakville. The cemetery is described as being in Trafalgar Township, but is now, apparently, in Oakville.

The above death registration describes Helen's place of birth as Niagara. The death registration of her daughter, Sarah Margaret Dorland, also describes Helen's place of birth as Niagara. Localewise, this could mean several places, including, one might suppose, Niagara Township on the U.S. side of the border. This latter seems unlikely, however. Perhaps something more specific will be found.
