Since Gore Bay is in Gordon Township, both could be correct. Probably, Ada was born at the family's home in the township. Death reg. 005804-08 Gordon Twp., Manitoulin District Ada Merle Wismer died November 16, 1908, age 13 yrs., 1 mo., 24 dys. Place of birth Gore Bay. Single. Place of death Owen Sound. Parents Jacob Wismer, born Gore Bay (?), and Mary Coulthard, born Osprey. Physician C. M. Lang of Owen Sound. Informant Chas. Gordon of Owen Sound. Death registrations were supposed to be filed in the town or township wherein the death occurred. Merle died in Owen Sound. This is clearly stated on the registration and the physician and informant were resident in Owen Sound. The registration, however, was filed in Gordon Township on Manitoulin Island, which is where Merle resided with her family. Merle is buried in the Gordon Township Cemetery. Last seen, her gravestone was broken and the top half bound together with the bottom half. |
