ID # 9244, (1836-1890)
Birth | Lucinda Osborne was born in 1836 at Markham Township, Home District. |
Marriage | She married Levi Wismer, son of David Wismer and Mary Tohman, on 27 November 1853. |
Death | She died on 28 October 1890 at Whitchurch Twp., York County. |
Note | Lucinda Osborne appears, age 16, in Pickering Township of Ontario County, in the 1851 census. She appears with her father James, age 69, who is shown as a widower. Also in the household are Lucinda's brothers, James, age 32, a widower, and Joseph, age 24. There were probably other siblings of whom we have no present knowledge. Father James is shown as being born in the U.S. Lucinda and her two brothers are shown as being born in Canada West. It's a technical point, but Canada West, comprising present day Southern Ontario, did not become Canada West until February of 1841. More correctly, Lucinda and her brothers were born in Upper Canada. The 1861 census shows Lucinda as being born in Markham Township and so we may say that she was born in Markham Township of the Home District of Upper Canada. Lucinda's death registration has a problem. Death registrations were supposed to be filed in the town or township of death. This death registration was filed in Whitchurch of York County by whom we do not know. It does have the look as though Lucinda died in Toronto. Death reg. 018572-91 Whitchurch (Township), York Co. Lucinda Wismer died October 28th, 1890. Age 54. Farmer's wife. Born Markham, Ont. Cause of death tumor. Physician Hospital Dr's Toronto. Informant's name not given. Filed on January 5th, 1891. |
