This is taken from a copy of the original page as downloaded from Ancestry. The microfilm information is per a list provided by the Archives of Ontario. A transcription is also available from Global Genealogy, Milton (but now of Ottawa). The above marriage is transcribed on page 37 of this work which was done by Dan Walker & Fawne Stratford-Devai, and entitled The Marriages Registers of Upper Canada/Canada West, Vol. 11, Part 3, Home District, 1843-1849.

DeathHe died on 24 February 1902 at Brock Township, Ontario County, at age 83.
BurialHe was buried on 26 February 1902 at Stouffville Cemetery, Whitchurch Twp., York Co..
NoteAugustus appears in the 1891 census at Stouffville in York County. He is shown as age 74. He is Lutheran and shown as a harness maker. Given that the 1891 census was begun 6th of April in that year, and if Augustus' age is been calculated at 75, and this in turn is subtracted from 1891, which would suggest a probable birth year of 1816. The 1901 census, however, has Augustus, evidently with a son, in Brock Township of Ontario County. This gives his date of birth as April 5, 1818. Is this accurate? It is shown as such in this tree for little more reason than it is specific. Examples abound wherein the 1901 census birth date information is, at the least, questionable. This census does show Augustus coming to Canada in 1838.

(The handwriting on this page is somewhat difficult, which may have caused the name of Augustus to be poorly indexed. For someone wishing to do a search for this page, look for the head of the previous household, Charles Tucker, born in 1863.)

Rev. Fretz, in his genealogical history of Jacob Wismer and his family, published his book in 1893. This locates the Von Buseck family in Stouffville. This is in York County's Whitchurch Township.

With Stouffville in mind, a search was made of transcriptions made by the York County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, with particular reference to Stouffville and it was found that Augustus and Nancy are buried in Stouffville Cemetery. The transcription of their gravestone appears on page 30 of this 300 page work. There are several family members buried there, including children.

The gravestone inscriptions include Augustus' place of birth, Hessen-Darmstadt in Germany. Augustus did not die in Stouffville, however. His death registration places his death in Brock Township of Ontario County (now a part of the Durham Region.) A death registration for Nancy has not been found and we do not know her place of death.

Augustus' death registration shows him to be an Anglican. We must believe this to be a clerical error. He was almost certainly Lutheran.

Nancy's inscription on the gravestone dates her death to Jan. 17th, 1895. This also gives her age as 67 years, 10 months and 4 days. Her date of birth, 13 March, 1827, is calculated from this. It may only be approximate.

Death reg. 019023-02 Brock Twp., Ontario Co.
Van Buseck, Augustus, died Feb. 24, 1902. Age 85. Residence Concession 6, Brock. Harness maker. Born Germany. Anglican. Physician and informant Dr.l McDermott. Filed Feb 26, 1902.

With regard to Augustus' religious affiliation, as mentioned above, he certainly wasn't Anglican, but Lutheran. The 1901 census also shows Augustus as Lutheran.

The above deat registration does not give us a date of burial. Page 14 of the 26 February, 1902, edition of the Globe & Mail, however, does have a notice relating to Augustus' passing. It does not say where he died, but does tell that he'd be buried 'today', Feb. 26, 1902, at Stouffville.
