Return of marriages solemnized by William Smith, a minister of the Baptist Church, Bloomsburg (Norfolk County) for the year ending December 31, 1861.
The following is extracted from a list of 7 marriages perform by Rev. Smith in South Dumfries, Brant Co., beneath which, again, he identifies himself as the minister of the Baptist Church of Bloomsburgh in Norfolk County
George Hager, 40, born and residing in Trafalgar Township in the County of Halton. Parents Lawrence and Susan Hager.
Sarah Shook, 34, residing Trafalgar in County of Halton, born Beverly in Wentworth. Parents Peter and Lydia Shook.
Witnesses Pervis Lawreson, St. George, and Peter Shook, Charlotteville.
On 10 Jany., 1861.
The witness, Purvis Douglas Lawrason, was married to Charlotte Shook, Sarah's sister. Most likely, the marriage was at the home of Purvis and Charlotte.
The registration gives Sarah's birth location as Beverly, and this is possible. Sarah no doubt resided for a number of years in Beverly. It is possible that she was born elsewhere - Trafalgar Township or perhaps Barton Township.
