The December 4, 1911, issue of the Toronto Daily Star, page 5, shows a death notice for Robert Hope. Robert's death registration shows his date of death as December 3, 1911. The death notice repeats this. The death registration locates his place of death as 41 Ontario Street in Toronto. The death notice states that this is his residence. The death notice has a printing flaw on his street's number, but we may take it to be that he died at his residence.

The 1912 Toronto city directory shows Robert Hope as living at 41 Ontario Street. the 1913 directory shows Mrs. Mary Hope as living there. The alphabetical name list shows Mary A. (wid Robt) 41 Ontario Street.

The 1914 directory has Nelson A. Dicks at 41 Ontario Street and we must believe him to be no relation to the Hope-Foster family. At number 39 Ontario, however, is John Foster. Mary Ann's brother?

The newspaper death notice goes on to tell that his funeral and burial will be on December 6 and that he is to be buried at St. James Cemetery (Anglican) in Toronto.

The 1901 census in Toronto East dates Robert's birth to August 12th, 1843.

Correspondence with the office of St. John's Norway Cemetery does indeed indicate that Mary Ann Foster, the wife of Robert Hope, is buried in their cemetery, but that her husband definitely is not. We may take it that he is buried in St. James Anglican.
