| Note | Death reg. 019924-78 Stouffville, York Co. Martha Polly Aiken died 21st Decr., 1877, age 4 years. Born Toronto. Cause of death diptheria. Physician and informant Dr. Wilson of Stouffville. The above would tell us little, but St. James Anglican Cemetery, Toronto, shows Martha Polly's death on 22nd December (the 21st is probably correct) and her age is shown as five. She is buried in the south grave of Section V, lot 064. The cemetery records her as the daughter of Robert Aiken. This will be correct, for records show that Robert spent at least some time living in Stouffville during this era. She is buried with her grandfather, James Aiken, and her Aunt Jane Aiken McBride. James is in the centre grave and Jane is in the north grave. This tree shows Martha Polly Aiken's year of birth as 1872. This is approximate. Her death registration shows her as age 4; her burial information at St. James has her as age 5. A birth registration has not been found. |
