| Note | The first record found for Mary Nisbet is in the 1861 census for Moore Township, Lambton County. She appears there as age 21. This would approximate her year of birth to 1840. She is said to be born in Upper Canada. The church denomination for the whole family is poorly written, but it has at least the look of being an abbreviation for Congregationalist. This may not have been what was intended, or perhaps was an enumerators error. Certainly the 1871 census in Moore shows Mary with her father and they are Presbyterians.
Mary's date of death, 2nd December, 1884, is taken from a transcription of Moore Union Cemetery in Mooretown. She is buried with her father. It does appear that she never married. Her age is shown as 44. It seems probable that she died in Moore Township, but a death registration for her does not appear to exist. |
