On 8th August, 1877, at Turnberry, by Rev. James Smith.

For some inexplicable reason (probably human error), the marriage registration was filed twice. The second registration is identified as 004511-77. It is the same in every detail with the exception that it filed in Wingham and tells that the place of marriage was Wingham. On neither registration is the date of filing shown. Which location is precisely correct is unknown.

DeathHe died on 29 April 1890 at Waterloo Township, Waterloo Co., at age 48.
BurialHe was buried at Sec. D, Wingham Cemetery.
NoteSee notes for Wilmot's wife Jane:

As mentioned under her notes, the transcription of Jane/Jennie's supposed grave has inscriptions for two children whom we must believe were hers and Wilmot's. They are Joseph who died on June 30, 1878, age the age of 12 days and Charlie who died on November 12, 1880, at the age of 3 months and 2 days. No registrations of birth or death have been found for these two children.

To repeat, the date for the death of Joseph, so called, was June 30, 1878.

There also exists a death registration for a son of a different name, but his date of death and age are the same of that of Joseph's. This reads:

Death reg. 005458-78 Turnberry Twp., Huron Co.
Arthur Lambert Gotby died 30th June, 1878, age 12 days. Farmer's son. Methodist. Born Turnberry. Cause of death not known. Physician none. Informant Wilmot Gotby, farmer, Turnberry. Filed 6th July.

It should be said that neither Joseph, nor Charlie, nor Arthur Lambert Gotby, show baptisms in the central repository baptism records of the Wesleyan Methodists, a church with which the family was associated. This is not unusual. Some clergyman were quite assiduous about making their returns; others, not so much. It may be that baptism records for these children do exist in a local church's records.

Death reg. 016922-90 Waterloo Twp., Waterloo Co.
Wilmot Gotby died April 29th, 1890, age 48 yrs., 3 mos., 29 dys. Farmer. Methodist. Born Wellesley. Cause of death inflammation of lungs 9 days. Physician Dr. Mulloy. Informant John Tilt, Doon, Waterloo Twp.

Wilmot is buried with his parents on Section D of Wingham Cemetery.

His death registration places his birth in Wellesley. His Wesleyan Methodist baptism record, however, which was recorded in Wellesley, places his birth in Markham.

It does appear that he spent his last days with his sister Susan and her husband John Tilt in Doon.
