Note | Familysearch has a database England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975. In this is found a Christening records for Jesse at Dorking, Surrey, England, on 23 February, 1827. His parents are named as Charles and Ann. Death reg. 008139-78 London Twp., Middlesex Co. Jesse Cosens died June 26, 1878. Age 51. Farmer. Born Scotland(?) Baptist. Physicians Drs. Bucke and Beemer. Informant Dr. Beemer of London Township. Jesse wasn't born in Scotland but in England. Find-a-Grave has a photo of Jesse's gravestone in Woodlawn Pioneer Cemetery in Listowel. The stone is quite worn. The provided transcription tells that Jesse was born on 18 January, 1827. This date may originate with a rather older transcription of the cemetery. In any event, it's probably not far off. For the following, follow the Huron County library link to old newspapers at: https://www.huroncounty.ca/library/special-collections/digitized-newspapers/ The Huron Expositor was published at Seaforth, Ontario. See the July 5, 1878, edition, page 5. This very briefly tells of the passing of Jesse 'Cousins', age 51, of Wallace (Township) on June 26 at the London Asylum. The brief death notice isn't very informative, but does go on to say that he was the brother of N. 'Cousins' (Nathaniel) of Tuckersmith. |
