Aitchison of the state of Illinois in the county of Cook, do solemnly declare that I am the brother, etc. I am the older brother, being 4 years senior, and was in the house at the time of the birth and have a distinct recollection of the occurence. (Signed) David M. Aitchison, 10th November, 1930. According to the 1935 voters' list, Water was a resident of Vancouver. He may have been in Vancouver as early as 1930. In earlier years - First Word War era - he was in Saskatchewan. The above places Walter's birth in Brantford, which, so shown, we would typically believe to be the town. It is almost certain, however, that Walter and William's births were in the township (Brantford Township). When sister Mary was born in 1879, the family was in Burford (village or township). The 1881 census shows the family in Brantford Township. William's place of birth is given as Mount Pleasant. There was a post office in Mount Pleasant in Brant County from 1853 to 1963, at the least, and this may well have been the postal address for the family for at least a period of time. Certainly, when brother Albert was born and died in 1884, the family was in the township. |
