Eve Elisabeth Seiler
ID # 8603, (1816-)
Birth | Eve Elisabeth Seiler was born in 1816 at Germany. |
Marriage | She married Heinrich Gimber in 1849 at Berlin, Wellington District. Information for the marriage of Heinrich (Henry) Gimber and Eva Seiler is taken from The Marriage Registers of Upper Canada/Canada West, Vol. 9, Pt. 1, Wellington District, 1840-1852, as transcribed by Dan Walker & Fawne Stratford-Devai, and published by Global Heritage Press, Milton, 2013, (now in Ottawa). This is available in both print and PDF format. Images of the District Marriage Registers may be found via Familysearch, mostly, but not for the Wellington District. A very long time ago the register disappeared and was found by a woman who was browsing in a bookstore. She purchased the register out of her own funds and then donated it to the Wellington County Museum at Fergus, Ontario. Hence, this was never imaged on the MS248 series of microfilm reels as made available by the Archives of Ontario and from whence Familysearch draws their images. It is understood that the pages have been copied to microfilm at the museum and that this is the source from which the transcription has been taken. Which brings us to an interesting historical figure in the old Town of Berlin area, namely Rev. Freidrich Bindemann. Bindemann entered on his lists of marriages some 16 of them dating from October 1st, 1849, to January 1st, 1850. Of these, the Gimber-Seiler marriage is number 10. These marriages are not dated, though at a guess Henry and Eva were married in November, 1849, or thereabouts. The heading for the entry reads: Marriages by Rev. Friedrich W. Bindemann Minister of the United Lutheran & German Reformed Protestant Church at Greenbush Oct. 1, 1849 - Jan. 1, 1850 And the entry reads: Henry Gimber, 33, farmer, of Woolwich, to Eva Seiler, 29. By Banns. Rev. Bindemann. Barring an entry in a family bible or a newspaper notice, that's probably as good as it gets for the marriage record of Heinrich/Henry and Eve. |
