NoteEarly Miseners in the Niagara Peninsula do appear in this tree and Jacob will be one of them. His and Delora's marriage registration shows his parents to be Mathias and Catharine and his place of birth as Thorold. This is of some assistance in identifying Jacob's ancestry. And for this, we refer to the work of Douglas A.Robbins of St. Catharines, Ontario, who in 1991 published Dr. W. G. Reive Collection: Cemeteries and Graves in Niagara, 1991.

Dr. Reive was an early visitor to many Niagara area cemeteries in the later 1920s and early 1930s. He did some transcribing, occasionally extensive, of at least some of these cemeteries. Page 387 of Robbins work lists the Muisenor Burial Place, near Port Robinson, on the Welland Canal. This was visited by Reive on May 2, 1930. This records the gravestones of Leonard Muisenor Sr. and his wife Barbara. Also recorded with them are the gravestones for the wives of Mathias Misener, Hannah and Catharine. Just where Mathias was buried isn't recorded. The point here is that Jacob will be a grandson of Leonard Muisenor and Barbara. Reive identifies Leonard Sr. as a brother of Nicholas Misener. Nicholas appears elsewhere in this tree.

Robbins has three works. The above, his Dr. Reive Collection of Historical and
Genealogical Notes, and Burial Records and Notations of William Dalton, 1845 to 1916. All are worthy additions to a genealogical library for those interested in Niagara Peninsula families.

Death 008187-79 Gainsborough Twp., Lincoln Co.
Jacon Misiner died 27th April, 1879. Age 72 years. Land surveyor. Born Wainfleet. Religious persuasion not given. Cause of death bronchitis two months. Physician Hiram Pringle, Wellandport. Informant Joel Misiner, farmer, Wellandport.

Jacob's death registration shows his place of birth as Wainfleet (township). His marriage registration, no doubt based on information that he himself provided, places his birth in Thorold (township). He is buried with his first wife, Sarah S. Misener, in Sensabaugh Cemetery in Wainfleet Township. Along with them is a stone for Ann E., daughter of Jacob and Sarah, who died in 1865 at age 30. These three burials are marked my stones numbered as 9, 10, and 11, in Row 9 of the cemetery. The transcriber states that these stones are weathered and difficult to read and that they are flat and set in a concrete slab.
