Lovett, carpenter, Galt. Registered on January 28, 1871. For which reason, the Archives of Ontario have this birth in their 1871 index. Amy Ann was baptized on April 14, 1873, at Ainslie Street Methodist by Rev. J. B. Clarkson, who was minister in that church at the time. The page for baptisms that the entry is located on is that for North Dumfries, the township, but every baptism on the page was performed by Rev. Clarkson in Galt. Amy was baptized with siblings Catherine, Charles and Arthur. The 1871 census shows Amy's age to be four months and places her birth in December (1870), which agrees with her birth registration. She is shown as the first Lovett child born in Canada. Since her brother Charles was born in England in June of 1869 it does narrow the time frame to about a year and a half as to when they came to Canada. |
