Her date of birth on her birth registration agrees with her date of birth as it appears on her gravestone. Death reg. 001169-75 South Dumfries Twp., Brant Co. Maria Smith died August 7, 1875, age 14 months. Farmer's daughter. Born South Dumfries. Cause of death diptheria three days. Physician and informant E. E. Kitchen, M.D. Maria's death by diptheria was one of a number of deaths by the same disease on the twin pages. As noted, we have no death registration for Algeletta and, hence, no cause of death. The children died in little more than two weeks of each other so diptheria was probably the cause in both deaths. |
