| Note | The Dumfries Reformer edition of 16 Oct, 1867, has a birth notice for a Thomas S. Rutherford of Burford, born on 4 October, 1867, in Burford. While it seems reasonable that this is Jane, age 4, who appears with her parents in Burford in the 1871 census we have confirmation from her death registration which dates her birth to 4 October, 1867. |
