Mrge reg. 012071-79 Hamilton, Wentworth Co.
William Palmer, 26, bachelor, farmer, Congregationalist. Born Canada, residing Brantford. Parents Richard and Charlotte Palmer.
Annie Walker, 23, spinster, Congregationalist. Born Canada, residing Paris. Parents Thomas and Ann Walker.
Witnesses Wm. Walker, Guelph, and A. Palmer, Paris.
On April 17, 1879, at Hamilton, by Rev. Wm. Herridge.

Rev. William Herridge was a minister of the Primitive Methodist Church and, apparently, at least around the time of William and Annie's marriage, was located in Hamilton. The short story here is that Rev. Herridge messed up and accidently submitted the record of the marriage twice - once to the clerk in Paris in Brant County, and once to the clerk in Hamilton.

Given the respective residences of William and Annie, the marriage was probably held in Paris, but...that's a guess. An error like this is hardly unique.

That he happened to be in Paris and available to perform the marriage is also not a unique situation, though by 1879 less likely than in earlier years.

Newspaper accounts of the marriage have been sought without success.
