ID # 7531, (1844-1913)
Birth | Margaret J. Morrison was born on 25 December 1844 at Oxford County, Brock District, Canada West. |
Marriage | She married Levi Husband, son of George Husband and Elizabeth Eakins, on 8 September 1868 at Oxford County. MS248 reel 12, Vol. 50, page 90 Oxford County Marriage Register Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by William Richardson, a minister of the Canada Presbyterian Church (Tillsonburg), for the year ending 31st day of December, A.D 1868 Levi Husband, 25, born Nelson, residing Tennssa (Tennessee). Parents George and Elizabeth. Margt. J. Morrison, 24, born Oxford Co., C.W., residing Port Burwell. Parents Alexander and Margaret. Witness Angus McKay, Tilsonburg. On Sept. 8th, 1868. Levi's place of residence is ill-written, but it's safe to say that he was residing in Tennessee. He and Margaret have not been found in the 1870 census, but they are in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as of the 1880 census and have with them daughter Robin, age 10, born in Tennessee. They also have a son with them, William, age 5, who was born in Michigan. County marriage registrations do not typically tell the exact town or township where a marriage was held, but the clergyman was of Tillsonburg and the witness, Angus McKay, likewise, so, probably, the marriage was held in or near Tillsonburg. Tillsonburg is in Dereham Township of Oxford County and Port Burwell, Margaret's residence, is in Bayham Township of Elgin County. |
