A note is entered below the above registration which reads: Received return 19 January 1875. Registered same day. There are three registrations on the page. The 1st and 3rd being for marriage in Ashfield Twp., Huron Co. The 1st is dated March of 1873, and the third is 27 January 1874. The note under the 3rd registration simply reads: Same remarks as nbr. 2 That a marriage performed in one county, even one township, was recorded in another county and township, is unusual. Evidently Rev. Grant was catching up with his paper work and wasn't fussy about procedure. Since the marriage wasn't registered until 1875, this is how it would be indexed with the Archives of Ontario. |
