NoteAgnes Harkness was born in Scotland on March 13, 1853. Canadian census information from 1861 onwards places her birth in Scotland. The 1901 census in Bright Village, Blenheim Township, provides us with her date of birth.

Agnes was married to William Hamilton in October of 1877 and gave birth to his son William Mills Hamilton in July of 1878. By this time, however, William, her husband, was dead, according to the child's birth registration. A death registration for William has not been found, nor a place of burial, so we do not know whether William died in late 1877 or in 1878.

Agnes was in the village of Bright when her son was born in 1878, but by 1880 she is in Keene, Ionia County, Michigan, with sister Margaret and her husband John Hamilton.

At first glance the 1880 census in Keene is deceptive. She is shown as 'Addie', John's sister-in-law, last name Hamilton. Of course, this is Aggie and with her is son William.

By the time of the 1891 census, she is back in Canada in Blenheim with her father. Her name is shown as Agnes Harkness, but her son William Hamilton, age 12, is in the household.

She married William Bond, a widower, in 1893. They were together some 17 years. He died in November of 1910. Her son William died in Sarnia in 1901 and he is buried in Chesterfield Cemetery and Agnes, some 34 years later, is buried with him.

As of the 1911 census, Agnes is in Bright Village with her brother Andrew.
