James and Mary's marriage registration shows Mary's parents as Grant Weir and Jane Tully. Why this information was entered as such, we can only guess, but census information indicates that James gave his wife's parentage correctly when he provided her death information. A birth registration for Mary has not been found. Comparing Francis Weir and family in the 1861 and 1871 censuses, it is evident that Francis married twice. Isabella Tully was probably his second wife. The 1861 census in Otonabee Township shows Francis' wife as Sarah and they have with them two children, Agnes Catherine, age 6, and Sarah Victoria, age 1. At the time of the 1871 census, Francis' wife is shown as Isabella. Francis is 46, Isabella is 30, Agnes and Sarah are 16 and 10. The 1881 census shows Francis and Isabella. Francis' two eldest are still with them, but also present are Eveline, age 7, and Francis, age 1. |
