Note | See publication nbr. 163, Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. This shows Alexander McDonald, son of Kenneth, born 18 September 1861 (which agrees with his date of birth as it appearson his death registration), and baptized on 6 April 1862. Death reg. 010270-43 South Dumfries, Brant Co. Alex McDonald died on January 5, 1943. Place of death shown as Brant County, South Dumfries, Village of Branchton. Residence Branchton where is is said to have lived the last 55 years of his life. Single. Age 80. Born Ontario. Date of birth September 18, 1861. Farmer. Parents Kenneth McDonald and Elizabeth McCrae, both born Scotland. Physician J. C. Whitla (of Galt), Informant Laughlin McDonald, Branchton, brother. Burial Jan 7, 1943, at Glen Morris. His death registration places him in Branchton in South Dumfries. This may rather accurately have been his postal address for maps show Branchton in North Dumfries. This, however, is close to the border of South Dumfries in Brant County and local residents may have perceived Branchton more broadly. In the present day at least some residences are strung to the south from Branchton proper down Branchton Road in the direction of St. George and so homes south of the 7th concession might be considered part of Branchton. |
