| Note | A transcription of Stephanie's gravestone in Trinity Anglican Cemetery shows her date of death as 23 January, 1863. The Dumfries Reformer newpaper's edition of 14 January, 1863, shows her date of death as 3 January and her age as 4 years and 21 days. The gravestone shows her age as the same, per the transcription. A present day photograph of Stephanie's gravestone shows it to be quite worn and the was probably much the same at the time of the transcription which was done in 1990. The Dumfries Reformer's information will be correct, her age with both, however is the exception. Rosemary Ambrose has provided transcriptions from the Dumfries Reformer, a Galt newspaper, for births, marriages and deaths from this era. She shows a birth notice that appeared in the 15 December, 1858, edition of the paper and this shows the birth of a daughter for Adam Warnock on 13 December, 1858. This can only be Stephanie and, considering that the paper's date of edition is only two days later we must believe this to be correct. |
