Catharine Duncan Kerr
ID # 6969, (1868-1926)
|Father||David Kerr (1832-)|
|Mother||Catherine Duncan (1838-)|
|Birth||Catharine Duncan Kerr was born on 17 March 1868 at Vermont, United States.|
|Death||She died on 3 April 1926 at Quebec City, Quebec, at age 58.|
|Burial||She was buried on 6 April 1926 at Richmond, Quebec.|
|Note||Catharine Duncan Kerr was born in Vermont according to her church's death record. The 1901 census shows her year of birth as 1869, the 1911 census shows it as 1868. The 1871 census, which was begun on April 2, shows her age as 3. Since she was born in March, it seems reasonable that 1868 was her year of birth. A Vermont record of birth for Catharine has yet to be found.|
The 1901 census has it that she came to Canada in 1871. This is a little late, since brother Charles was born in Quebec in 1870.
At some point, Catharine married a Thomas Ewing Driver, though a marriage record has not been found. She died on the 3rd of April, 1926, at Quebec City.
Chalmers Church at Quebec City has a death record for Catherine that provides some information. She is described as Catherine Duncan Kerr, the wife of Thomas Ewing Driver, of Quebec, P.Q., and the daughter of the late David Kerr and Catherine Duncan. It states that she was born in Vermont on 17th March 1869, which year of birth is entirely possible, but the 1871 and 1881 censuses were both begun in April and the 1871 census has her as age 3 and the 1881 census has her as age 13. A birth year of 1868 seems the more reasonable.
The death record goes on to say that she died on April 3, 1926, and that her remains were taken to Richmond, Quebec, on the 6th for burial. Beyond a burial at Richmond, nothing was said about the name of the cemetery. Interment.net has a number of Richmond area cemeteries transcribed, though probably not all of them.
