Note | For death information of Charles Hespeler, I am indebted to the website Waterloo Region Generations. They refer to a death notice appearing in the December 2nd, 1886, edition of the Berliner Journal, page 5. Copies of the Journal may be found on a website for Simon Fraser University's digitized newspapers. They have an impressive run of the Berliner Journal from 1880 to 1916. This is in German and your researcher's abilities with this language are close to nil. Still, my own rough translation is: On 29 October in Memphis, Tenn. Chas. Hespeler, the youngest son of Jacob Hespeler, age 31. Yes, this approximates the odd other translation seen, but...it's good to look at the original. A place of burial for Charles has not been found. |
