NoteFreeBMD shows the birth of William Frederick Frank Wiley in the 3rd quarter (July to September) of 1856 in the district of Carmarthen. This was the registration district and he was not necessarily born in the town of Carmarthen per se. The 1861 census finds William and his parents in Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, and this shows his place of birth as Llandefeilog, Carmarthenshire, Wales. He is the youngest of seven children. The family is mainly of English origins, he and his next oldest brother being the only two of the family born in Wales.

Find-a-Grave provides a photograph of William's gravestone in Fairview Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. This shows his dates of birth and death.

It will be noted that four children are shown for William and Hope, all born in Paris, Brant County, Ontario. It seems probable that there were more, but there are none shown in the available transcription of Greenwood Cemetery in Brantford where, apparently, Hope Keachie Wiley is buried. Also, the family was Church of England and there are no Wiley's buried in St. James Anglican Cemetery in Paris, again according to the available transcription.
