Mary A. De Blaquiere
ID # 6404, (1847-)
Father | Charles De Blaquiere (1819-1869) |
Mother | Agnes Briggs Smith (1824-1864) |
Birth | Mary A. De Blaquiere was born in 1847 at Canada West. |
Note | Mary appears in this tree, for the time being, as the daughter of Charles de Blaquiere and Agnes Briggs Smith. If her age, shown as 5 in the 1851 census (really taken in January of 1852) is accurate, then she is probably the daughter of William Lawson. One difficulty here is that her age, as well as those of her two siblings, were written in and then stroked out and, for Mary, her age as 5 clearly written. (The stroked out version is illegible.) The enumerator's question for the 1851 was supposed to be: What is your age as of your next birthday. Since the census was actually taken in January of 1852, in all probability Mary was age five later that year - which would then place her year of birth to 1847. The question was probably not always asked in a clear manner, but this is what we have to work with. Mary does not appear in the 1861 census with her family. Since it is highly improbable that she was married and out of her parents house by the time of this census, she may be deceased. Considering the Anglican church connections of the family and the family's locale, it seems reasonable that if she was deceased by this time she would be buried in Old St. Paul's Anglican church cemetery at Woodstock. The burial record for the church looks to be an exellent and well kept document with burials dating back to 1834 and her name does not appear on the list. |
