The form shows the date of information filed as October 2, 1889. This goes on for pages, forward and back. This has the look of a catch-up job on the part of the clerk or clerks. Charles' month of birth, June, as shown, is out of order with other registrations on the page, mostly January, but is probably correct. Sister Effie was born in Nepean Township in 1885 and Charles was born in Ottawa in 1889. Apparently when in Nepean, the family was in the village of Rochesterville. When brother Kenneth was born in in 1892, his delayed registration of birth - filed in 1935 - shows the family's address as 96 Preston Street in Ottawa - allowing for mother Margaret's memory on the matter being correct. |
