Note | Death reg. 007861-77 Grantham Twp., Lincoln Co. Margaret M. Parnall died March 15, 1877. Age 28. Married. Baptist. Born Grantham Twp. Physician Dr. Downey. Informant Sidney Parnall, Twp of Grantham. Magaret's surname on her marriage registration could be Cook or Couk. The Niagara branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has transcribed her gravestone with her name shown as Couk. Couk, or perhaps Couck, may be correct. See Men of Upper Canada, Militia Nominal Rolls, 1828-1829, Elliott, Walker, and Stratford-Devai, Toronto, Ontario Genealogical Society, 1995, page 133. This shows a George Couck in Captain John McLellan's Company. This is to be found under the 2nd Regiment of Lincoln Militia which begins on page 131. The preamble suggests that those serving in the 2nd Lincoln were drawn from Stamford, Thorold, and Pelham - which leaves much to be desired for evidence, but does at least place the name in the Niagara District. |
