Note | The Niagara branch OGS transcription of St. Andrew's Cemetery, Port Dalhousie, is our source for John Lawrie Craise's dates of death and birth. He is stated to have died on 23 June, 1852, at the age of 11 years, 3 months, and 2 days.
See page 65 of Rev. Donald McKenzie's Volume 2, Death Notices from the Christian Guardian, 1851-1860, Global Heritage Press, Milton (now of Ottawa), 2011. This briefly tells that a boy, age 11, the son of Adam Craise, died on June 23rd near Port Dalhousie as the result of being kicked by a horse. This appeared in the Guardian's July 14, 1852 edition and quotes the Niagara Mail. |
