Note | 1840, the year of birth shown for Lawrence Montague, agrees with the 1861 census at Crowland Township where he appears as age 21 with his parents Thomas and Ann Montague. This also agrees with later census years. Lawrence's month and year of death, May of 1903, is taken from a transcription to be found on Find-a-Grave for Oakwood Cemetery in Allegan, Michigan. Frances is probably also buried here as well, though a transcription or photograph of her gravestone has not been found. Lawrence served from August of 1862 to June of 1865 in the Civil War. The 1900 census in Trowbridge shows Lawrence as coming to the United States in 1862 and his wife Frances Misener in 1869. |
