Note | When Abigail's family came to Canada it may be that the family's name of Fliege. There is some small evidence to support this, but, for the moment, it's little better than a guess. Abigail, age 4, appears in the 1851 census in Willoughby Township with her parents Jonas Flag, age 35, born Canada, and her mother Barbara, born France, age 42. She is age 13 and with her parents at the time of the 1861 census in Willoughby Township. In this census, her mother, Barbara, is shown as being born in Germany. Death reg. 018665-89 Willoughby Twp., Welland Co. Abigal Misener died August 10, 1889. Cause of death consumption. Age 40 years, 11 months. Farmer's wife. Born Willoughby. Methodist. Physician Dr. Glasgow. Informant James McCourt, farmer, Willoughby. A note here for Abigail's parents: Jonas Flagg died in 1873. A death registration has not been found. He is buried in Black Creek Pioneer Cemetery in Bertie Township (now a part of Fort Erie.) Barbara Flagg lived until 1897. Her death was reported by Harvey Misener, almost certainly her grandson. She is buried with her daughter and son-in-law, Abigail and William Misener, in Doan's Ridge Cemetery, section D. |
