NoteAn index provided by FreeBMD tells that John Samuel Job married Margaret Thompson in Chorlton, Lancashire in 1861. FreeBMD also shows at least some of their children, including James Bertram Job, as being born in Bury Lancashire. James was born, according to the FreeBMD index, in 1876, and according to the 1881 census in Flamborough East Township in Wentworth County, Ontario, he may have been the last child born to the family in England. According to the 1891 census, again in Flamborough East, John and Margaret had a daughter Helen who was born in 1885.

The 1871 census in Heywood, Heap, Lancashire, shows John Samuel Job as a cotton spinner. It was probably quite a life change to leave England in the late 1870s and become a farmer in Ontario, for so the censuses of 1881 and 1891 show him to be.
