Cause of death puerperal fever 3 days. Physician Dr. Walker. Informant: Slip from Alfred Chenoweth, farmer, West Zorra. The death registration was apparently sent in by mail. This was probably not unusual. Indeed, of the six deaths recorded on the page that included Charlotte, five of them were received by 'slip'. These were likely available in a local post office. Other pages of returns reflect the use of 'slips'. As an aside, the deaths recorded in the West Zorra pages for this period indicate that there was an epidemic of diptheria with more than one child deceased in a couple of households. |
