Charles Decker, 26, blacksmith, born Canada, residing Blenheim. Parents Alpheus and Elizabeth. Jane Hastings, 21, born Canada, residing Blenheim. Parents James and Catherine. witnesses James Cleland and Annie Hastings, both of Blenheim. On 11 July, 1877, at Blenheim. Christiana's name, as mother of the bride, reads Catherine on the registration. In the 1881 census, the Deckers are living two households away from the Hastings. Jane's age is right and there is no other obvious canadidate. It seems likely that the clerk had difficulty with the minister's handwriting. |

Note | Charles death registration, 025380-16, shows him as a blacksmith and a coal dealer. It gives his birth place as Beverly Township, his death in Blenheim, and gives his place of burial as Ratho Cemetery. His father is shown as Alpheus Decker and his mother as Elizabeth (illegible). |
