| Note | Birth information for Alexander and Catherine and their children is taken from the 1901 census and the 1911 census, both taken at North Dumfries. Also, birth registrations have been found for their children. The entry in First Church, Galt, Presbyterian Church records, by 1859, were those performed by Rev. R. Acheson, and apparently entered in his own hand is the church's book of baptisms. The baptism for Catherine is very brief: 1859, 18th Sept., Catharine, daughter of Wm. McArthur. This does not tell us directly if the baptism was held at home in in the church, but a perpetual calendar records that the 18th of September in 1859 was a Sunday, so it was almost certainly held in the church. Death reg. 012765-48 London, Middlesex Co. Catherine McMillan McArthur Cowan died April 3, 1948, at her residence 415 Baker Street, London, Ontario. Widowed. Born Ontario on July 10th, 1859.
