| Note | A birth registration for Hugh has not been found. Death reg. 003475-74 South Dumfries, Brant Co. Hugh White died April 6th, 1874. Age 3 years. Farmer's son. Born South Dumfries. Cause of death scarlet fever, 2 weeks. Physician Dr. Lundy. Informant Hugh White, farmer, South Dumfries. A sure recorded burial place for young Hugh has not been found. He is almost certainly, however, in the family plot in section 2 of Mountview Cemetery. The Waterloo Region branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has transcribed Mountview and they record in the plot Thomas White and Mary Harvie, young Hugh's grandparents; also recorded are his parents Hugh White and Janet Wallace; also recorded are his brother Thomas, 1860-1930, and sister Henrietta, 1870-1951. The transcription also shows: Sculpture of child resting on couch - no inscription visible. This must be toddler Hugh's memorial. Another candidate has not been found. Baptism records have not been found for Henrietta or Hugh. |
