Gore District Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Rev. James Strang of First Church Galt (Presbyterian)

James Scott and Susannah Rannie, both of Dumfries, by license, on Jany. 17, 1845. Witnesses John Browne and John Rannie.

The above is taken from the image as it appears on the page of the Gore District marriage register and is clearly written.

A rather faded rendition of the above appears on microfilm reel GS2987, First Church, and is to be found under marriage number 187. The names of the witnesses are rather difficult to read, but the one extra piece of information it does provide is to locate the marriage in Dumfries.

DeathHe died on 15 June 1896 at Galt, Waterloo Co., Ontario.
BurialHe was buried at Section 1, Mountview Cemetery, Galt.
NoteDeath reg. 019702-96 Galt, Waterloo Co.
James Scott died 15 June, 1896. Age 88. Born Scotland. Carpenter. Presbyterian. Physician Dr. Wardlaw. Informant Wm. Scott.

(Note: Yet to be researched. James does appear to have two sons Robert, one by Elizabeth and one by Susannah. First Church baptism records might tell the story, but the baptisms of 1853 aren't in my files.)
