NoteHe The baptism of James Angus Rennie appears on microfilm LCM-30, United Church Archives, Toronto. This covers baptisms for the era at First Church (at the time Presbyterian) in Galt. Parents names are not given, but James' full name is shown and is sufficiently unique that we may enter his baptism date with confidence.

James Rennie, age 8, is with his parents at the time of the 1861 census in North Easthope, Perth Co.

In 1871, he is also present with his parents in North Easthope. His age is shown as 17.

James married Josephina Hisermann (variously spelled) on Boxing Day 1878 at Chesterfield in Blandford Township of Oxford County. James shows his place of residence as North Easthope at the time of his marriage, but only a little over two years later, at the time of the 1881 census which was begun on April 4 of the year, James and Josephina are living in Wilmot Township of Waterloo County. A Waterloo County Gazetteer and Directory for 1884-85 (William W. Evans, Guelph) shows James living in Wilmot Township on property apparently leased from his father, John B. Rennie.

The couple is still present in Wilmot Township at the time of the 1891 census. Interestingly, his brother, Cumming Rennie and family, appear on the same page.

In 1901, the couple is still in Wilmot Township and they are again shown in Wilmot as of a 1906 Waterloo County directory.

By 1911, the couple have moved, and are now shown as living in the town of Chesley in Bruce County. This page is faded and the name Rennie is barely readable. The space for occupation has been filled in, but is unreadable.

The 1921 census also shows the couple in the town of Chesley and James is shown as a retired farmer.
