James Jones
ID # 489, (1793-1860)
Father | Andrew Jones (1767-1850) |
Mother | Mary Slough (1770-1843) |
Birth | James Jones was born on 16 April 1793 at Upper Canada. |
Marriage | He married Hannah Goodale on 11 March 1817 at Ancaster Twp., Ontario. A transcription of 'A Register of Baptisms and Marriages, Gore and London Districts, by Rev. Ralph Leeming, 1816-1827, is provided by Bill Martin of Thunder Bay on his excellent web site. The pertinent marriage appears as follows: James Jones, a bachelor, of the Township of Beverly, and Hannah Goodale, a spinster, of the same place, were married by banns at Ancaster on the 11th day of March, 1817. |
Death | He died on 24 July 1860 at age 67. |
Burial | He was buried at Troy Cemetery, Troy, Ontario. |
Note | Most of the information for James and Hannah as it appears in this tree comes from a transcription of Troy Cemetery by Harley Misener. James and Hannah had a number of children, but for purposes of this tree our interest is in their daughter Mary Ann, who married Rufus Dodge. Mary Ann was a first cousin of Mary Coleman who married Leonard Dodge. We have no sure statement, but the logic of the evidence is that Rufus and Leonard were brothers. They both moved to Chesaning, Michigan, and finished their days in that place. |
